Newsflash from St Francis Property Owners NPC (SRA): Why Has Groyne Construction Slowed?

Residents will have noticed that progress on the construction of NG3 has slowed in recent weeks. The reason is a temporary shortage of the large armour rock needed to build the groyne.

If you’ve driven past the construction site recently, you’ve probably noticed that work has been progressing more slowly than expected.

The project has experienced an interruption in the supply of Type 1 armour rock (1–3 tonnes), the largest rock used in the construction of the groynes. The existing supplier recently advised that it could no longer provide the required volumes.

An alternative supplier has been secured, and deliveries are expected to increase over the next one to two weeks. Construction will continue as material becomes available, with work expected to return to its normal pace shortly.

The slowdown comes after repairs to the river mouth groyne (NG6) and the angled groyne (NG5) were completed, allowing construction to move onto NG3.
