Environmental Authorisation For Our Long Term Coastal Protection Project Granted.

On 20 August 2021, DEDEAT granted Environmental Authorisation for our Long Term Coastal Protection project. This is a significant milestone that we have reached.

The approved project will entail sand sourcing from the Kromme River, using this sand for beach nourishment to create a 40-metre wide beach, and the construction of groynes to retard the loss of sand from the St Francis Bay beach. More detailed information can be found in four reports prepared by our Coastal Engineers Advisian. These reports can be found on our website under SFPO NPC (SRA) Documents –  https://www.stfrancispropertyowners.com/sfpo-npc-sra/npc-documents/  – towards the bottom of the page.

We will commence with implementation of the project as soon as we have accumulated sufficient funds to do so. The project will be phased due to financial constraints. We want to commence construction during the last quarter of 2022. The funding available then will dictate the scope of the first contract (first phase only, or more than one phase simultaneously). To date, we have accumulated approximately R15 million for this project, and we expect that the available funds for the project will exceed R20 million by the end of 2021. A number of generous individuals have approached the SFPO, offering to contribute financially and to assist with raising funding for the project. To date, more than R10 million has already been pledged. We intend to embark on a funding drive soon, and more information will be made available in the near future.

The St Francis Bay Riparian Home Owners Association, the Kromme Joint River Committee and individual Home Owners Associations along the Kromme River pledged to contribute financially to the project.

We will keep the community of St Francis Bay informed on progress.

SFPO Association Subscriptions.

It is that time of the year when we request our members of the St Francis Property Owners Association to renew their membership subscriptions for the new year.

The yearly subscriptions run from 1 October – 30 September, concurrent with our financial year.

If you have new neighbours, or if any of your friends have moved to St Francis Bay, please pass on the newsletter and encourage them to join the Association. All help is greatly appreciated.

The annual subscription for a property owner/resident is R500 or R330 for a pensioner.

St Francis Bay Aesthetics Guidelines

The updated St Francis Bay aesthetics guidelines document is now live on our site. It is a 16-page document that can be downloaded or read online.

It is an interesting read, and you can find the link under the SFPO Association header on the website home page.

Wheelie Bins

The St Francis Bay wheelie bin roll-out is still going strong.

We would like to remind all that wheelie bins are available from the Municipality free of charge. The SFPO Association can assist if you are not in town but need to claim yours. We would also like to warn all who already have their wheelie bins to paint their ERF numbers or even their addresses in their bins to discourage thieves. We also advise bringing them in at night, as wheelie bins are being stolen.
