The Laura Road Groyne is the southernmost groyne of the Long Term Coastal Protection Scheme and once completed, will be 177 meters in length.

Construction of this groyne accelerated on Tuesday this week, with 890 tons of rock being placed on the day. This consisted of ‘core’ rock with a maximum weight of +- 300 kilograms per rock, which is then protected by ‘armour rock with a maximum weight of +-1 ton per rock.

Once this groyne is complete, the beaches to the south up to and including Main Beach will be built up with sand sourced from the Kromme River.
